Is there a plan to support this OS?

Hi,
Thanks, while we fully appreciate your desire for a Skype API on iOS, we currently have no plans to remove that restriction from the SkypeKit Licence agreement.
If you would also like a Skype API on iOS please give the original poster some Kudos.

Does the new SkypeKit for Desktop API allow development of a browser-based application, i.e. Safari running on an IOS device would be supported?

Thanks for posting, as per my above post iOS is not currently supported. Also you would need to keep in mind that developing an application that plugs into the browser is prohibited under the terms of the licence agreement.

So it's painfully clear now that one can't put Skype support directly in one's iOS app. :-)
How about this: Can my app invoke the Skype iOS app using a URL scheme? I know this is technically possible because my app interacts with the Facebook app this way. All that would be required is to know the exact schema that the Skype app puts in its .plist file under CFBundleURLTypes.
The Facebook app also has a way of re-invoking my app when it's done logging in. This is also accomplished by CFBundleURLTypes entries in MY app. Does Skype support this?
If Skype doesn't do this yet, hopefully it will soon. It would seem to allay Skype's understandable reluctance to have other apps competing with the Skype app while using Skype's service, and it would give apps like mine the ability to offer nearly seamless Skype service.
Thanks!
Christopher

Christopher,
I am pleased to say you can use the Skype URI Scheme with iOS.
For details on the URI see : http://developer.skype.com/public-api-reference#UR
I am unsure how much of the Scheme has been implimented in iOS but I know calling and chat functions should work.

Allen,
I'm a little confused about Skype restrictions.. ok, I understand that I can't use SkypeKit on iPhone because it is a mobile device, but do I have a right to integrate skypekit on my iPad products which I'm planning to sell on AppStore? Since iPad has no cell-phone feature, do I still have no right to integrate skypekit into my app to allow my users to chat over Skype or even make Video calls?
Please let me know and thank you for your time!
Regards,
Evgeny

You are correct that there is a restriction on mobile devices. There is a seperate restriction on tablets running iOS and Android. So the answer is no to both
Its probably worth noting, based on my last read of the iOS terms, that you couldnt intergrate SkypeKit on iOS even if we did permit it... could be wrong on this as its been a while since I was last looking at them.

Thank you Allen!
I'm sure our chat will help to many other people which are looking for the anwsers.
But is there any way I can integrate at least the chat protocol? I mean, there are apps on the AppStore that support Skype chat protocol and I'm sure there should be a way for this.
As I remember there was some news that Skype will open a Jabber access to let other clients software chat with Skype users throught Jabber protocol, is there any chance we could have that oportunity soon?
Thank you so much for your time once again Allen!!
With warm regards,

We do not permit any development on iOS for 3rd party developers. If you are aware of programs that do enable this functionality then please let me know their name and I will investigate.
We currently have no plans to enable Jabber access, that I am aware of.
